About our Stroke and Neurovascular Center

The Regional Neuroscience Institute’s stroke and neurovascular center provides comprehensive care for stroke, TIA (transient ischemic attack) or “mini stroke,” and neurovascular illnesses.

Patients with stroke-related needs, have access to a medical team specially trained to care for stroke patients. Patients entering our emergency department’s stroke unit with symptoms of a TIA, for instance, are cared for by a team that follows national best practices for immediate referral to physician care within 24 hours of their arrival to our ER.

We also offer specialized care for inpatient neurovascular patients in our eight-bed intensive care unit. The Neuroscience Critical Care Unit is fully equipped with state-of-the-art monitoring, mechanical ventilation and related intensive care support systems to provide comprehensive patient care in a critical care setting.

The Regional Neuroscience Institute has recently added a neurohospitalist to its team. Designed to create stronger alignment and efficiency for patients who need immediate medical care, this person will serve as the admitting physician for acute strokes, TIA and neuromedicine patients. They will also consult the Stroke Response Team, initiate and coordinate rapid and collaborative treatment, and medically manage acute neurovascular patients.
